Comstock specializes in finding real people who are willing to speak frankly about their sex lives, and demonstrate those sex lives on camera, and the latest film follows the same documentary premise, intercutting interviews with brief snippets of a sex scene, followed by the complete scene. While his previous films have focused on straight couples and one gay male couple, this is the first devoted to a lesbian relationship. Ashley and Kisha are a charming couple, very comfortable together, and their story is funny, interesting, and rather charming. They met in college, where Ashley was an openly gay student athlete, and Kisha was a straight student who wasn't even bi-curious -- at least, as far as anyone knew, including herself. But Ashely pursued Kisha, and gradually won her over, with some humorous misadventures along the way. (The story of their first attempt to use a strap-on is hilarious.) Having gotten to know them a little through their interviews, it's a bit odd to watch them make love -- after all, they're not playing roles, but letting you peek into their real lives -- but the context also makes the sex more emotionally involving for the viewer. (It doesn't hurt that they're both gorgeous.) For those of you who can't abide talking, you can elect to watch just the sex scene, but if that's your attitude, this probably isn't the film for you -- hearing them talk about sex is at least as interesting as watching them have it. 	Chemistry Tristan Taormino Vivid Finally, someone has done something interesting with the idea of reality-porn! Tristan Taormino, sex columnist, author, and director, locked seven porn stars up in a house for a day and half, and did interviews and sex scenes, one after another, with them. The results are utterly charming, even more than her previous release House of Ass (which we loved, too). The stars are interesting and articulate, the sex is incredibly hot (after the very first scene, we're amazed Mr Marcus has a cock left), and the whole thing is like the absolute best dirty weekend ever. We're also pleased to see that it stars Dana DeArmond, who appeared in our release Superfreak ... hi, Dana! 	Chemistry 2 Taormino, Tristan Vivid/ Smart Ass Chemistry 2 is the follow-up to Tristan Taormino's award-winning and celebrated "reality porn" release Chemistry. The premise here is essentially the same: Tristan locked eight porn stars in a house for 36 hours, interviewed them, and filmed them having sex -- with no script and no direction beyond being told who to sleep with, so they could do whatever they like. The group dynamics are fascinating, the sex is crazy hot, and the production values are great. The interviews, which provide real insight into life in the business, are awesome, too. It's a great film all around, and including the bonus features, there are probably around five hours of footage, so there's plenty to sink your teeth into. It differs from most reality shows principally in the lack of conflict and "villains." Perhaps it's because they were only in a house together for a day and a half, but they all seem to get along remarkably well, and overall they radiate positivity. (Which doesn't mean none of them critique the porn business, but their complaints tend to have more to do with institutional problems than interpersonal ones.) This is a lot smarter than your average porn, and that's a good thing; smart is sexy. 	Chemistry 3 Vived/Smart Ass Chemistry 3 is the latest in Tristan Taormino's groundbreaking "reality porn" series, and it's hot, funny, and enlightening. Six well-known adult film stars -- Roxy DeVille, Hillary Scott, Jada Fire, Christian, Derrick Pierce, and Steven St. Croix -- were locked in a house for 36 hours, filmed constantly, periodically interviewed, and encouraged to fuck one another any way at any time, with no direction. The result is a three-and-a-half hour film with about nine actual sex scenes and countless scenes of conversation, confession, laughter, and goofing around. If you're interested in wall-to-wall-sex, this isn't for you, but if you have any curiosity about the real people in porn, this is a rare chance to look behind the curtain. Derrick Pierce and Roxy DeVille are especially interesting with an ongoing discussion on the dynamics of rough sex (choking, slapping, etc.) -- when it's hot and when it's not, when it's acceptable and when it crosses a line. Roxy is totally hilarious, too, presenting a non-stop stream of jokes and stories and weirdness, including cartoon voices and her strange predilection for rolling around in empty bathtubs. Hillary is, as always, flat-out adorable, and Jada doesn't take crap from anybody. They all talk about what they like, and don't like, in their personal and professional sex lives, and discuss strategies for getting through especially tough days on the job. The best sex scenes involve Roxy and Derrick together and Hillary and Christian together, but there are plenty of threesomes, foursomes, and shower sex (poor Christian could barely wash himself without getting ambushed). There's not much in the way of interpersonal drama, with everyone pretty much getting along, so don't expect the petty slapfights typical of most reality shows. It's nice to see performers talking so openly and honestly, and having so much fun. There are heaps of bonus features, including lots of extra footage, and if you really are just interested in the sex, there's a positions menu, too. 	Coming Home Early to Bed Coming Home is indie lesbian porn featuring real gay performers, and the difference between this -- the real thing -- and fake lesbian mainstream porn is palpable. There are four scenes, each featuring a different couple making love at home, and the performers here are experienced, vigorous, enthusiastic, and fun-loving. They also display a refreshingly wide range of body types. Sure, there's one scene with young, slender, tattooed hipster types -- Anja and Eva -- who could probably make the jump to mainstream alt-porn if they wanted, but they're the exception (albeit a yummy exception, who engage in some very fine strap-on fucking with some light bondage accessories). The first scene has a couple of dykes the likes of which you'll never see in mainstream lesbian titles, and Kathleen and Everett fuck with tremendous enthusiasm and hunger. Deborah and Shannon are older women -- not elderly, certainly, but approaching middle-aged, which is pretty much elderly in porn terms -- who have a tender romantic moment that turns into a romp all over the room, with the assistance of some toys. The best scene of the bunch is the weirdest, a Tinkerbell/Peter Pan roleplaying scene, with a gorgeous black femme covered in body glitter and wearing a beautiful pair of wings, alongside a boyish, pixieish Pan. They're having an absolutely wonderful time, and there are a lot of nice whimsical touches -- like a spanking with a magic wand! -- along with some serious fucking, including a strap-on and some great anal play. It's a low-fi production overall, to be sure -- the sets are nothing special, the costuming (apart from the divine Tinkerbell and Peter Pan scene) is minimal, and the lighting and sound are only adequate, but the minimalist feel only adds to the sense of verisimilitude. 	Friends and Lovers Blowfish Video Friends and Lovers celebrates real sex with three couples talking frankly about their personal sex lives -- and then providing demonstrations. The first couple, Charles Paul and Leila Swan, are professional porn performers and filmmakers, and they talk about the transition from the San Francisco porn scene to the more mainstream commercial porn business in Los Angeles (if you were wondering, the Bay Area is more genuine and kink-friendly than the San Fernando Valley). Leila's gorgeous, and their sex scene is a lot of fun. Eamonn and Grace talk about their exhibitionist tendencies and their belief that sexuality is the root of creativity. 	Girls Get it On Abby Winters Girls Get It On features two sex scenes, starring Australian girls making love, as well as before-and-after interviews with the performers. This is indie porn made by a woman, and the performers are amateurs. No plot, no elaborate sets, no strap-ons or other accessories, just two girls in a room. The first two, Ava and Liandra, are cute as sexy buttons, young and sweet and seemingly very happy about getting together. (They do have noticeable armpit hair and pubic hair, which will be a turn-off for some of you and a turn-on for others, no doubt). There are no interviews, not much in the way of small talk, basically no props, no set dressing, no fancy lingerie, no distractions -- just girls having playful sex. There's an unrehearsed, impromptu quality to the scenes, which is charming. The camerawork is hit-or-miss -- sometimes you can tell there's something hot happening, but you can't quite see over the shoulder of the girl on top, or the angle is a little too sharp. That's occasionally frustrating, but it also adds to the illusion of verisimilitude; these girls clearly aren't thinking much about blocking or camera position, and they seem to be doing what comes naturally. Chloe B. and Paula are up first in a sweet, slow scene, with lots of hot kissing and a gradual exploration of one another's bodies. Ava and Tammy B. are rather more passionate and athletic in their scene, providing a nice counterpoint to the more languid lovemaking of the first couple. The girls seem to be fresh-faced amateurs, and there's an openness and warmth to the scenes that's marvelously refreshing. This is a no-frills production, but the simplicity actually makes it seem more convincingly real. (2007, 113 min.) 	Girls on Film Abby Winters Girls on Film is, essentially, a single lesbian sex scene that runs close to an hour long. That may seem potentially boring, but in fact it's a voyeuristic thrill -- you'll feel like you're sitting in a corner of the bedroom, watching these cute, happy girls get it on. The film opens with a pair of adorable Australian girls -- one brunette, one strawberry blonde -- joking and laughing and playing around with a cheap instant camera, taking snapshots of one another while flashing their panties and bras. After a few minutes they head into an apartment and tumble into bed, where they spend the next long little while stripping one another naked, kissing each other, fingering each other, licking, sucking, and generally enjoying themselves immensely. 	Intimate Moments: Shared Abby Winters Intimate Moments: Shared is a great idea with a charming, sexy execution, produced by AbbyWinters.com, an Australian company that specializes in all-girl amateur films with a feminist bent (so it's more about embracing the sensuality of womanhood than fetishizing teenage girls, which is a nice change). The set-up is simple. Two girls in a room with a camera, masturbating to orgasm. These aren't lesbian scenes per se -- each woman is mastering her own domain, as it were -- but there are some moments of mutual masturbation and the occasional lending of a helping hand for a caress or nipple-tweak. There's no director, and no cameraman, either, so the camera doesn't move, but the static shot, usually from the foot of the bed, only serves to heighten the realism. There's no sense that the women are acting, either, and their performances range from the shy and the demure to the loud and exhibitionist. Watching young, cute women (with adorable Australian accents) bring themselves to climax is wonderful, but their conversations are often just as good, as they share fantasies, talk about techniques, or just chat. Despite the fundamental artificiality of filming two women masturbating side-by-side, the scenes feel very real and unmediated, and it really does feel like you're peeking in at, well, intimate moments. 	Lots More Intimate Moments Abby Winters Lots More Intimate moments has nine scenes (ten counting the bonus scene) of cute natural amateur Australian girls masturbating, either alone or in pairs. It's a simple premise, and one that AbbyWinters.com does exceedingly well, and most the scenes are pretty good, though there are a couple of duds, where the girls don't seem to have much fun, and so the viewers won't, either. Standouts include slow-burning brunette Calibre, who tugs her panties up hard through her crotch and, after coming, strokes her own body languidly. Blonde Julianna periodically rolls on her side, tucks a pillow between her thighs, and humps against the fabric, which is arrestingly hot. The cutest pair is Paula and Anthea, adorable, sexily dressed, lying across one another and stroking and nuzzling. Kaitlin is heartbreakingly cute, probably the single sexiest girl here, but the camera angle is a bit unfortunate, positioned so you can only see her face when she throws her head back in ecstasy (which isn't a bad moment to see her, true). More disappointing moments include Miranda, who is cute enough, but narrates everything she's doing in a sort of blank monologue, and has a strangely affectless expression. 	Matt & Khym: Better Than Ever Tony Comstock Comstock Films The latest in Tony Comstock's series of documentaries featuring real couples talking about -- and demonstrating -- their sex lives is sweet, sexy, and ultimately even inspirational. Matt and Khym met when she was just out of high school (he was three years older) and, after a brief friendship, became romantically involved. They've been together ever since, for almost twenty years, and the first half of the film features them sitting together on a couch, talking about how they met and the course of their lives together, with an emphasis on the sexual. It's clear they're just as much in love now as they were when they first got together, and they can't keep their hands off each other. Their story is sometimes sad and sometimes funny. They talk about their first years together, when she still lived with their parents and they could only have sex in the car. They had making love in a car down to a science, and when they finally had a place of their own, they had to re-learn how to have sex in a bed. Over the years they had various long-term houseguests (assorted relatives, a troubled teenage foster child), and so their sex life always had a whiff of the clandestine about it. In their last couple of years, living alone together, they say they've undergone a sexual renaissance. Twenty years, and still so passionate. We should all be so lucky! They obviously take great comfort and solace from their relationship -- it seems to be the utter bedrock foundation of their existence. 	Xana and Dax, When Opposites Attract Tony Comstock We love Comstock Films here. We've been huge fans since day one of the first Comstock release, Marie and Jack: A Love Story. And now we have Xana and Dax: When Opposites Attract, and we love it, too. Xana is a buxom blonde who knows just what she wants; Dax is dark, slender, and young and eager. They make one of the most visually pleasing couples we've seen in porn in a long time, and they are hot, hot, hot together.
