	Ashley and Kisha: Finding the Right Fit Tony Comstock Comstock Films Ashley and Kisha: Finding the Right Fit is the latest film from Tony Comstock, porn's premiere cinema verite director. Comstock specializes in finding real people who are willing to speak frankly about their sex lives, and demonstrate those sex lives on camera, and the latest film follows the same documentary premise, intercutting interviews with brief snippets of a sex scene, followed by the complete scene. While his previous films have focused on straight couples and one gay male couple, this is the first devoted to a lesbian relationship. Ashley and Kisha are a charming couple, very comfortable together, and their story is funny, interesting, and rather charming. They met in college, where Ashley was an openly gay student athlete, and Kisha was a straight student who wasn't even bi-curious -- at least, as far as anyone knew, including herself. But Ashely pursued Kisha, and gradually won her over, with some humorous misadventures along the way. (The story of their first attempt to use a strap-on is hilarious.) Having gotten to know them a little through their interviews, it's a bit odd to watch them make love -- after all, they're not playing roles, but letting you peek into their real lives -- but the context also makes the sex more emotionally involving for the viewer. 	The Black Glove / The Elegant Spanking Beatty, Maria Blue Productions The Black Glove and The Elegant Spanking Two great films that go great together. Here's what we had to say about each of them: It's a rare and wonderful treat to see a porn film that applies a real artistry to its subject, and this elegantly perverse lesbian SM video is most definitely one of those rare treats. An exquisitely-made black-and-white movie, The Black Glove has the feel of a 1920's German art film, with a rich, shadowy, carefully crafted look and a slow, seductive pace. 	Bondage Boob Tube Madison Young MadisonBound/Blowfish Video Bondage Boob Tube was named Hottest Kink Film at the Feminist Porn Awards, and it's easy to see why. It's a delightfully surreal and sexy flick that begins with Jewell Marceau watching a 1950s TV series and lamenting the utter lack of sex therein. 	Coming Home Early to Bed Coming Home is indie lesbian porn featuring real gay performers, and the difference between this -- the real thing -- and fake lesbian mainstream porn is palpable. There are four scenes, each featuring a different couple making love at home, and the performers here are experienced, vigorous, enthusiastic, and fun-loving. They also display a refreshingly wide range of body types. There are no interviews, not much in the way of small talk, basically no props, no set dressing, no fancy lingerie, no distractions -- just girls having playful sex. There's an unrehearsed, impromptu quality to the scenes, which is charming. The camerawork is hit-or-miss -- sometimes you can tell there's something hot happening, but you can't quite see over the shoulder of the girl on top, or the angle is a little too sharp. That's occasionally frustrating, but it also adds to the illusion of verisimilitude; these girls clearly aren't thinking much about blocking or camera position, and they seem to be doing what comes naturally. Chloe B. and Paula are up first in a sweet, slow scene, with lots of hot kissing and a gradual exploration of one another's bodies. Ava and Tammy B. are rather more passionate and athletic in their scene, providing a nice counterpoint to the more languid lovemaking of the first couple. The girls seem to be fresh-faced amateurs, and there's an openness and warmth to the scenes that's marvelously refreshing. 	Girls on Film Abby Winters Girls on Film is, essentially, a single lesbian sex scene that runs close to an hour long. That may seem potentially boring, but in fact it's a voyeuristic thrill -- you'll feel like you're sitting in a corner of the bedroom, watching these cute, happy girls get it on. 	In Search of the Wild Kingdom Shine Louise Houston Pink and White/Blowfish Video In Search of the Wild Kingdom is the latest (and greatest) film from indie auteur Shine Louise Houston, whose earlier releases The Crash Pad and Superfreak garnered her accolades from feminist porn fans and queers of various persuasions. Like her previous movies, In Search of the Wild Kingdom is a tour-de-force of lesbian sex, featuring lots of hot butches and femmes from the San Francisco area. This is the pure product. There are no gay-for-pay bottle blondes with scary fake fingernails engaged in perfunctory open-mouthed tongue kissing here -- except in a brief, hilarious scene that parodies such moments in mainstream porn movies. The basic premise is clever and used to very funny effect. A documentary film crew follows around another documentary film crew as they attempt to film the mating habits of San Francisco lesbians. So In Search of the Wild Kingdom is a (fake) documentary about a (fake) documentary about (real) lesbians. (Follow all that?) Imagine one of those National Geographic programs, with cameras watching lions from the distance, only instead of lions, they're watching lesbians. The fundamental joke is that the people having sex don't notice the camera crew in their apartment or in the bar, and there's a really funny bit of business with a "decoy lesbian," a mannequin dressed up and sent out to attract the natives. All that's cute and innovative, but what about the sex? This is a film made by and for lesbians, but given the tastes of most heterosexual men, they're likely to enjoy this, too, and it might even dispel some silly misconceptions about how women have sex. (Short answer: they have sex in all sorts of awesome ways.) The sex scenes are often really intense, especially a long three-way with two women wearing strap-ons. The most important thing: this is real fucking, messy, gasping, sweaty, improvisational, impetuous, spirited, and beautiful. It's a very funny mockumentary, but there's nothing mock about the sex. 	Intimate Moments: Shared Abby Winters Intimate Moments: Shared is a great idea with a charming, sexy execution, produced by AbbyWinters.com, an Australian company that specializes in all-girl amateur films with a feminist bent (so it's more about embracing the sensuality of womanhood than fetishizing teenage girls, which is a nice change). The set-up is simple. Two girls in a room with a camera, masturbating to orgasm. These aren't lesbian scenes per se -- each woman is mastering her own domain, as it were -- but there are some moments of mutual masturbation and the occasional lending of a helping hand for a caress or nipple-tweak. There's no director, and no cameraman, either, so the camera doesn't move, but the static shot, usually from the foot of the bed, only serves to heighten the realism. There's no sense that the women are acting, either, and their performances range from the shy and the demure to the loud and exhibitionist. Filmed with a shadowy, lushly detailed black-and-white look reminiscent of 1930s art films, Ladies of the Night has exquisite lighting and camerawork, excellent creepy music, and a tantalizing pace with a slow, seductive build-up. An innocent young woman is kidnapped from a deserted street and carried off to a spooky mansion, where she is stripped, bound, and forced/seduced (it's so hard to tell the difference sometimes) into all manner of delights and torments (again, so hard to tell the difference sometimes!) by her lovely and unearthly fetish-clad captors. 	Lots More Intimate Moments Abby Winters Lots More Intimate moments has nine scenes (ten counting the bonus scene) of cute natural amateur Australian girls masturbating, either alone or in pairs. It's a simple premise, and one that AbbyWinters.com does exceedingly well, and most the scenes are pretty good, though there are a couple of duds, where the girls don't seem to have much fun, and so the viewers won't, either. Standouts include slow-burning brunette Calibre, who tugs her panties up hard through her crotch and, after coming, strokes her own body languidly. Blonde Julianna periodically rolls on her side, tucks a pillow between her thighs, and humps against the fabric, which is arrestingly hot. The Seven Deadly Sins has an elegant look and a slow, patient pace, creating a series of beautiful and arousing kink-icon images that stayed in this reviewer's mind for some time. Shot in muted, sepia-tone shades, with the feel of an old silent art film or a vintage French postcard come to life, the production quality is lovely and excellent. The Seven Deadly Sins is rather more sensual and sexual than some of Maria Beatty's other movies (it even includes a bit of finger-fucking), and the play is a bit less extreme as well -- but don't worry, that just means there's no knives or enemas or fire. After kissing the mannequin for a while, it transforms into London, a far less stiff (and far less bald) woman. At first scenes of Dylan and London are intercut with scenes of Dylan and the mannequin, which is annoying -- it's much nicer to see warm flesh-on-flesh than to see Dylan licking a life-sized wooden doll. When the women are on screen together, they're both lovely, though they take a while to get going. The usual trappings of BDSM are mostly absent -- no whips, no chains, only the occasional riding crop -- but there's definitely a domination/submission thing going on here, with Dylan firmly in the top role. London is spanked and cropped for a while before Dylan turns to more tender ministrations. Cute, butch Deb Shooter works in a feminist sex toy shop, spending a long afternoon boxing up dildos and vibrators and harnesses to send to customers, and eventually exposure to so many implements of carnal delight gets her mind moving in sexy directions. Soon she takes a little masturbation break, settling down in a chair and unbuttoning her jeans and thinking about where those boxes of toys might go, and what people might do with them. Indeed, it's an elegant and even sweet indie film, made with great care and attention to detail, with a willingness to linger that's absent in most frenetic mainstream porn. There are only two performers onscreen, the blonde London and the boyish Dylan Ryan, and the success of the production depends entirely on their chemistry together; fortunately, they seem perfectly at ease with one another, and the film is like a glimpse into a long lost weekend of languid lust. Dylan and London make love to one another in a motel, and that's all there is to this film, but the closeness of the focus does not necessarily mean a lack of variety. There are scenes shot in black and white, with both women in boy-drag; scenes with elegant evening gowns and high black boots; scenes of breathless fucking in a bathroom; scenes of dripping candlewax; scenes of face-riding, featuring a dildo in a mouth harness. The sweetly kinky sex onscreen is set off beautifully by a jazzy, bluesy soundtrack, and by occasional thoughtful and poetic voiceovers written and read by the sultry-voiced Ursula Del Aguila. 	Sugar High Glitter City Shar Rednour and Jackie Strano S.I.R. Video From the directors/producers of Bend Over Boyfriend 2 and Hard Love & How to Fuck in High Heels comes this totally authentic, wildly energetic, fabulously fun lesbian video. With a glitter-glam style that's both flashy and trashy, Sugar High Glitter City is set in an imaginary future where sugar is illegal, and dyke "sugar-hos" sell their bodies to other women to get their hands on the sweet white powder. (Okay, it's a silly premise, but it's no sillier than most porn premises, and at least it's imaginative.)
