Evan Essence is the rare porn video that has the name of a
male star in the title, which should give you some idea of its intended
audience: this is definitely a couples movie, though it would also
satisfy porn-loving straight women who like their videos with a lot of
romance and beefcake. Each of the vignettes took place during a
different time period, from the 1920s to the modern era, with performers
in (small amounts of) period costume, adding a nice level of fantasy to
the action. Highlights include the opening, with Evan Stone in a cute
newsboy cap making love to Lisa Marie, dressed as a flapper with a
string of pearls; Gen Padova as a '40s femme fatale meeting up with Jack
Lawrence (as a writer or a reporter) in his apartment, drinking wine

My Little Minx: is an all-girl feature subtitled "A (sort
of) Silent Lesbian Farce", and it mimics the look of old silent films
for much of its length, with black-and-white distressed-looking film
effects and title cards inserted to show the dialogue. The old silent
style drops away for the sex scenes, though, when sound and color
return, and it's an inspired choice that really makes the scenes pop.
Aubrey Addams, the minx of the title, works at a lesbian hotel owned by
Nina Hartley, where she amuses herself by causing mischief among the
guests, spreading lies and attempting seductions. The standout scenes
(in glorious full color!) include Indigo Sweet and Sinn Sage in vintage
flapper outfits that give way to lingerie and bare skin; Lindsay Meadows
and Satine Phoenix having a fight that turns into a fuck; and Ms.
Platinum and Randi James breaking up, making up, making out, and making
love. Hot lesbian sex and a clever gimmick combine to make this a foxy

This is a very good porn movie. The budget was huge, the special effects
are pretty good (superb by porn-movie standards), and the sex is really,
really hot. The reason we hesitated for so long in carrying it is that
clearly aspires to be more than that: It wants to be a Real Movie, and
to be one of those porn movies that flies from the lower plutonian
depths of Porn to the high pure air of Cinema. It's not all
that.
But it's a great, rousing and arousing porn flick. Janine is
very hot (and does a great acting job) as the pirate princess who is
starting to doubt. Jesse Jane and Carmen Luvana are as hot as always.
Evan Stone chews the scenery with relish. Steven St. Croix chews the
scenery with ketchup. Tommy Gun... well, nice sneer, kiddo. The skeletons
are great, the ship exteriors not so
much.
You get a really beautiful package, with a three disk set,
including an extra disk with the HD-DVD version that should play
beautifully on your HD-DVD player and
television.
You can, of course, play the main feature disk on any DVD
player.
So, no, this is not the cross-over hit that Digital
Playground wishes it was, but it's a great porn flick... and really, why
ask any more than
that?

Pirates 2: Stagnetti's Revenge is a big-budget epic with
lots of special effects, lavish sets, an enjoyable pulp fiction
adventure plot, and ten sex scenes featuring comely wenches and
able-bodied seamen. The leading lights of the main cast are Jesse Jane
as a sword-swinging pirate hunter; Evan Stone at his over-the-top best
as the captain; and Belladonna as a dangerous female pirate. All the sex
scenes are good, though special highlights include Ben English as an
island governor with a taste for pirate-roleplaying with a pair of
blondes dressed in frills, and that only briefly; Jesse and Belladonna
in a catfight that turns erotic; a nine-way orgy in a harem, with lots
of anal; and a three-way with Jesse, evil empress Katsuni, and Tommy
Gunn. There's a lot of plot breaking up the porny parts, but for those
devoted to smut, the special edition has extended versions of the sex,
along with a vast quantity of interviews, behind-the-scenes features,
and other goodies — three extra discs worth! There's truly a vast
quantity of booty to be had here.

Reform School Girls 4 is a welcome addition to the
venerable tradition of Bad Girl Porn, where foul-mouthed,
cigarette-smoking, sex-crazed, confined women (be they in prison,
boarding school, attitude-adjustment camp, or similar) use their
sexuality to take advantage of others (and are sometimes taken advantage
of themselves). The best part of this movie is a simple, and consistent,
choice of costuming: every single woman appears in an impossibly short
ruffled plaid schoolgirl skirt (usually with the traditional
tied-under-the-bust clinging top, and stockings or knee-socks). The
image of a girl in a tiny plaid skirt touches a deep fetishistic nerve
in the libidos of a large swath of the male population, and it ups the
hotness level in every single scene, especially when the skirts stay on
during the fucking. Not that the scenes need much hotting up: there's
lots of anal, rough blowjobs, all-girl three-ways, and, because this is
a reform school, even some prison-movie-trappings as well,
including a bit of caged heat with a girl locked in a cell until she
agrees to be a good girl. Dana DeArmond is the cutest, and turns in some
of the finest performances, but these girls all fill out their skirts
wonderfully — and seeing a hot blonde, in a tiny skirt, anally fucked
while she howls with pleasure? That's a lesson you'll not soon forget.

Sugar Town is a lighthearted homage to '70s exploitation
movies, with a little blaxploitation, some sexploitation, tons of
tongue-in-cheek retro costuming, and ridiculous pimp hats. The tone is
set from the opening credits, complete with wide lapels, muscle cars,
hot pants, and oversized sunglasses. A cast of hot mamas and bad
brothers strut through the mean streets, pausing from time to time to
kick ass (and fuck it, too). There's nothing much in the way of a plot,
which is too bad — a good '70s exploitation spoof should have an
incomprehensible and silly plot, ideally — but as a catchall of retro
sex scenes it works just fine. Standout moments include Mr. Marcus
rocking Britney's world on a naugahyde couch, with lots of fine anal,
and Ashley Blue giving Tyler a sloppy blowjob followed by some athletic
ass-fucking. The final scene, with gorgeous busty Jada Fire wrapped in
skinlight gold lamé taking on Gorgus Drae, is a dy-no-mite climax. Can
