The basic premise is clever and used to very funny effect. A documentary film crew follows around another documentary film crew as they attempt to film the mating habits of San Francisco lesbians. So In Search of the Wild Kingdom is a (fake) documentary about a (fake) documentary about (real) lesbians. (Follow all that?) Imagine one of those National Geographic programs, with cameras watching lions from the distance, only instead of lions, they're watching lesbians. The fundamental joke is that the people having sex don't notice the camera crew in their apartment or in the bar, and there's a really funny bit of business with a "decoy lesbian," a mannequin dressed up and sent out to attract the natives. All that's cute and innovative, but what about the sex? This is a film made by and for lesbians, but given the tastes of most heterosexual men, they're likely to enjoy this, too, and it might even dispel some silly misconceptions about how women have sex. (Short answer: they have sex in all sorts of awesome ways.) The sex scenes are often really intense, especially a long three-way with two women wearing strap-ons. The most important thing: this is real fucking, messy, gasping, sweaty, improvisational, impetuous, spirited, and beautiful. It's a very funny mockumentary, but there's nothing mock about the sex. Don't miss it.

"Barbarians" features Tommy Gunn in full Conan garb, with Lori Lust and Exotica dressed in the requisite chainmail bikinis, serving their barbarian chieftain -- cheesy props aside, it's a pretty standard three-way scene. Things get more interesting in "Kali," with Ice La Fox as an Indian goddess with six arms (the other arms are provided by fellow actresses, but the optical illusion actually works fairly well). She kneels and provides handjobs (with six hands!) and blowjobs for four men, and it's an awesome, beautiful, weird scene, one of the movie's high points. "Dolls" features four women in corsets and powdered wigs pleasuring one another, and there are some impressive daisy-chains and toy play, and the ladies have good chemistry. Stocking and corsets are always nice, too. "Dinner" has four lucky gentleman seated at a long dining table while servers bring in platters bearing scantily-clad women, and a feast for the flesh follows. "Dogs" is the contemporary vignette, with a blinged-out Trina Michaels in a room with two dogs, who transform into two black men, which is a little strange, but shapeshifting aside, it's a good scene, with some nice anal. "Android" features the lovely Jessica Drake as an artificial woman fucking her creator. The production values are high, the settings are innovative, and the sex is hot. This two-disc set features heaps of extras, including deleted scenes, bonus scenes from other films, a behind-the-scenes featurette, and loads of easter eggs.

Most of the sex scenes -- which are long, involved, emotional, and indescribably raunchy -- serve the story, revealing things about characters and driving the plot. All the gonzo stops are pulled out, with gangbangs, double vaginal penetration, double anal, slapping, spitting, bondage, choking blowjobs, dirty talk, and more, but it all makes perfect sense for the characters, who are desperate to feel anything real, and who seek ever more extreme sexual outlets for their frustration and rage. Only the final orgy scene is a disappointment -- it's meant to highlight the senator's loneliness and desolation as he sits alone in the midst of depraved acts of sport-fucking, and that works, but there's a hollowness to the by-the-numbers orgy that's disappointing after the intensity of the other scenes. Still, even with that low point, there's still 3 hours and 40 minutes of great sex-and-story here, which should be enough for anybody.

Red Light District is known for its hardcore, sometimes gonzo and over-the-top, movies, and they combine that rough-riding aesthetic with a feature-film plot to great effect here. But who is this other red-haired, white-faced woman? A hallucination? A fantasy of her lover's? A ghost? Unclear. But that's not the point. The point is one gorgeous scene and image after another, in beautiful sets with lovely videography. Even the title sequence is delicious. Although we wouldn't quite call it a BSDM movie, one of the scenes have Ms Hollander in a bridle and bit, which entirely worked for us.

Especially by Michael Ninn's standards (pre Neo_Pornographia, at least), the sex is very raunchy: Spitting, slapping, choking, lots of very nasty talk. This is by no stretch of the imagination a "couple's movie," although we're sure that lots of Blowfish couples will eat it up. We certainly did. There's quite a bit of name-calling and yelling in the movie, which works completely in context, but might not be your cup of tea.

The point of this series is that the sex is about as energetic and raunchy as you can find: spitting, slapping, choking, body fluids everywhere, more trash talk than your average parking lot pickup game, everything. The reason that this makes it into our catalog is that Ninn shows off his tremendous ability as a director: the movie looks great, and the sex is... well, if you like this kind of sex, you need these movies. Amazingly for such fast action, Ninn has finally figured out how to linger on a sex scene; no kitten-on-speed cutting here.

• Arianna Jolie, Scott Nails, Alex Sanders — Before we even get to the guy energy segment of this scene, Nikki Hunter has a long round of trash talk with Ms Jolie, including a great deal of masturbation and finger-fucking. (One of the hallmarks of this series is that Ninn makes solo female masturbation as raunchy as the rest.) Once Nails and Sanders join the action... well, it's nasty and raunch, but Jolie seems to be having the time of her life. Highlights include a double vaginal penetration, and from the noises that she's making, we'd have to say that she's wanted this her whole life.
• Alicia Rhodes, Hillary Scott, Marco — We're first introduced to Alicia and Hillary in separate scenes, with Nikki orchestrating all sorts of fun play (Alicia's near-self-anal-fisting is a particular highlight). They then fall on each other, and devour each other whole. (We're not exaggerating.) Anyone who thinks that girl-girl sex cannot be as a raunchy as that involving a guy will have that illusion shattered here. And that's before Marco is introduced into the mix. Anyone who seriously thinks that being a porn stud is easy work... well. It's not.
• Jayna Oso, Manuel Ferrar, Steve Holmes — We'll have to admit that Jayna starts this scene looking about as excited as if she's about to get a bad performance review at work. Things heat up very fast, though, thank goodness. After being done in the ass by Nikki (with a Phallix glass dldo, from the looks of it), among other things, bachelor #s 1 and 2 appear. Much rough sex follows, including a beautifully-shot and very energetic anal/vaginal double-penetration... followed by a double-anal penetration. Wow.

How does it compare to Neo_Pornographia? Unlike the first, this one was clearly produced as a single unit, with all the action happening on the same set and in the same photographic style. It is perhaps slightly less extreme than the first one, but that's probably a distinction without a difference in this series. If you are looking for one to decide if this is the right thing for you, this is probably a better bet than #1; if you liked #1, you'll love this one.

Michael Ninn's Neo_Pornographia series is the raunchiest series we carry. By far. It has spitting, slapping, near-fisting, aggressive deep-throating, choaking, body fluids flying to and fro, and really, really rough sex. It has lots of name-calling and yelling and D/S-y stuff (more than in previous episodes). If most sex movies are like a stroll down the beach, these movies are like running a triathalon... and the performers look just about as exhausted at the end of it.

Venus — Extreme anal penetration, trash talk, choaking ... and that's before anyone besides Venus enters the frame. This has just about the most verbal abuse of any of the scenes of any of the Neo_Pornographias so far, and that's saying something. The sex is also very hot, although not at all for the squeamish.
• Roxetta & Tyla Wynn — This starts with Nicki Hunter and the rest of the performers getting into what can only be described as a brawl before the actual sex begins. (If you are a fan of female dominant stuff, the treatment the actor receives here might be just your thing.) The brawl, of course, gives way to sex, lots and lots of it... all of it very rough. (lLots of spanking, we'll note, and a double penetration with toy scene that is particularly wild.)
• Rachel Luv — It's amazing that one can consider a scene with a near-bukkake facial, double vaginal penetration, and lots of trash talk to be "mild," but so it seems after the previous segments. This one is a good wind-down after the intensity of this disc.

pfew. If you've been looking at this series and wondering if it is right for you, this would be a great place to start; it's not quite as rough as the other two (although still plenty rough!), and would be a good introduction. If you loved the other two, this one is more verbal than physical, but is still just about the hardest-core thing we carry. If you want to see what the outer limits, the marathon-form, of porn looks like, but want something done with style, Ninn is here for you.

Afterschool Special — Roughly speaking, a gang of big nasty lesbians descends on a bunch of nice straight girls having lunch after school, and mayhem of the sexual sort results. Everyone is having the time of their lives; this looks like the kind of movie you and your friends would make if you were attractive, physically varied college-age lesbians (and who are we to say that you are not?). The production values are, pretty much, "Hey, everyone, let's put on a porn movie," and this was shot in the days before Hi-8, but the sex is very authentic, very hot, and the performers are obviously very, very into what they are doing. Tie Me Up Over and On — Have you ever had the experience of waiting for a lover, a lover who you wanted so bad you were aching, to arrive? Sure you have. The next section of the film is called "Simulations" and consists of footage of alien and fantasy pin-up illustrations, some quite well done, some merely competent. It's a rather rapid montage that would have worked better as a gallery with a series of static photos that could be advanced at will by the viewer. Finally there's "Visitations," where artists Sagemonn and Karynna do the behind-the-scenes thing, in the form of showing a visiting alien what they're all about. It's a cute conceit for a little featurette, and it's fairly interesting. This small, odd film is more cute than hot, but it's worth a look for novelty value alone.

The production values are great (it was shot on HD, and well-rewards a huge monitor), the acting is good, and the script isn't just a way to get from one sex scene to another. The usually completely-dopey "multiple angle" feature is put to very good use here: you can see a live commentary track on the main disk. And it comes with an entire DVD-worth of extras: Tons of "making-of" things (casting call, cold readings, etc., etc.), etc., etc. It's a seriously hefty package.

Randy Spears' character is a nightclub owner, husband, father-to-be... and a sex addict, and a complete mess. He cheats on his wife, cheats on his mistresses, cheats on the people he's cheating on the others with, and has all sorts of sex adventures that just make him that much more miserable.

This isn't a cheerful movie (the standard warning for all of Paul Thomas' features), but it's a remarkably good dramatic feature. It's not just a moralistic rant, and it's even overcomes the inherent contradiction in a porn flick that shows the dangers of too much commercial sex. (The sex is really good, too; the scene between Spears and Sunrise Adams deserved the award it got.)

The acting is good and believable, the characters are real, and this reviewer ended up caring what happened (and that's a lot more than one can say for most porn flicks, to put it mildly). Randy Spears proves that, if porn wasn't so hard to break out of, he'd have no trouble working in mainstream productions, and Dru Berrymore is especially good (and hot) as his mistress/dominatrix/confidante. And we'll be incredibly generous and say that the rather implausible last scene is a dream sequence. It's worth it for the last shot, which is both creepy and masterful.

Even the adult film industry agreed that it was a great movie; it won the 2004 AVN award for Best Film (the highest award), Best Director, Best Actor (Randy Spears), Best Supporting Actress, Film (Dru Berrymore), and Best Oral Sex Scene, Film (Sunrise Adams & Randy Spears). It was nominated (and apparently nearly won) the 2003 XRCO award for Best Video, and Randy Spears was nominated for the 2003 XRCO Single Performance, Actor award. (2003, 90 min.)

The plot is actually interesting and makes the transitions between sex scenes flow nicely: Rocco is a famous fashion designer hungry for a hot new BDSM look and is intrigued by the Fashionistas, a small design company whose owner is bent on seducing Rocco not only to buy her designs but to follow her into the underground world of American S&M clubs.

Rocco's performance is energetic and amazing as always, riding his women long and hard, and the women match him thrust for thrust. Belladonna can nearly rest her head on her butt, which is far more fetching than you can imagine, and her transformation from nerdy computer geek to willing submissive is convincing and hot hot hot. Every last sex scene is inventive and includes some aspect of BDSM. The costumes are sexy as hell and the sets rock in this very high-budget smut-fest. This movie actually features quite a few of our toys put to very good use, including: the Rosebud Decorative Butt-Plug -- Large, Twist & Shout with Blue Spirals, glass dildos very similar to our Iridescent Ribbon Glass Dildo, Black Dragon Latex Gloves, acrylic butt-plugs just like our Taillights and the Clover Clamps (not just for nipples anymore!); so if you get inspired by the movie, you know where to look to buy the props! We can't recommend this movie highly enough, though we have to agree with the box copy: this is NOT for the novice porn viewer.
