When it comes to caring for sex toys, acrylic is an odd
duck. It's very hard to actually break the stuff; it's
hard and solid enough to last for many years. But it is
fairly easy to do cosmetic damage to it, ruining its
transparency and generally making it look lots less
cool. And since the cool look and transparency is one
of the best things about acrylic sex toys, we have some
important words of advice on caring for them. Number One: Do not -- repeat, DO NOT -- wash acrylic with alcohol or any other solvent. Alcohol and other solvents will "craze" acrylic, creating hundreds of tiny cracks, not just on the surface, but all through the material. These cracks won't break it -- acrylic is damned hard to break -- but they will certainly make it a lot less pretty. Boiling also isn't such a good idea, as heat can soften the material enough to make it lose its shape. You can run it through the dishwasher if you like, though, as long as it's not on a super-high heat setting. Your best bet if you're sharing your acrylic toys and want to disinfect them may be to soak them in Betadine or a 10% bleach solution. If you're in a monogamous or fluid-bonded relationship and aren't concerned with sexually transmitted diseases, then you're probably okay with a good scrubbing in hot water and soap. It's fairly easy to scratch acrylic, so store it wrapped it something soft. Also, when you clean acrylic, don't dry it with paper towels or toilet paper, as that can scratch it as well. Dry it with a soft cloth instead. Basically, treat acrylic like you would treat a pair of eyeglasses. Except for the part about inserting it in your pussy or your butt. We strongly suggest that you not do that with your eyeglasses. Acrylic Toys |
