The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Men covers all the
basics of anal play and then some. There's a whole chapter devoted to
debunking the myths of anal sex as they pertain to men (including "Only
Gay Men Do It" and "Nothing Was Meant to Go in There") and another on
anatomy and exercise that mentions side-benefits of anal play (such as
the health benefits of prostate massage). Written in a very clear,
readable style, the information contained in this book covers pretty
much everything you could want to know about anal sex -- communication,
tools and toys, hygiene and diet, latex and lube, analingus, penetration
and positions (for both giver and recipient, and includes info on
dildo-fucking), fisting, anal health -- and some things you might not
have even thought of -- extreme sex (SM, gender-play, scat-play) and
recreational drug use. The book is directed at men, but Bill Brent does
take into consideration some women's issues (especially female anatomy
as it pertains to anal sex), and could certainly be used by women as
well (although The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Women
deals more directly with women's concerns and might be more reassuring
for nervous female novices). In fact, the only complaint we have about
this impressive book is its skimpy resource section and lack of an index
(though the book's chapters are clearly laid out, so finding information
is less of an issue). Illustrated by Zanne and Fish (Fish did the
illustrations for The New Topping Book and The New
Bottoming Book, as well as The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex

as a toy cleaner. HIV, the AIDS virus that the nonoxynol-9 is intended
to target, is fairly easy to kill outside of the human body, and other
sexually transmitted diseases may not be affected by it. Clinical
research has shown that Nonoxynol-9 is a soft tissue irritant and may
even allow viruses to be more easily transmitted once inside the body.
We encourage you to rinse your toys thoroughly after washing them with
this product to avoid irritation. Other cleansing agents such as
alcohol, bleach, Betadine, or boiling water may be more effective

Avanti Condoms
Blowfish is pleased to carry the Avanti Duron Condom, the
polyurethane (non-latex!) condom from Schmidt Laboratories. It is
strong, protects against STIs, and is thinner and transmits more
sensation than any other condom we've tried. It has a very light
silicone lube already on it for ease of rolling. It can be used with
oil-based lubricants without breakdown (although please make certain
that the lubricant is compatible with the body part on the receiving
end).
Because Duron (the trade name for the plastic that is used for
the Avanti) is not quite as elastic as latex, the
Avanti is slightly larger than the average condom, similar
in size to a "magnum" or "max" version of a latex condom. For the

Glyde "Lollyes" Dams
How many licks does it take...? A dental dam is a piece of flexible
latex, originally designed for use during oral surgery. They have become
popular as a way of practicing safer oral sex on those body parts where

Paradise Flavored / Colored Condoms, Water-Based Lube
Paradise Flavored / Colored Condoms condoms are
average-size, latex condoms with a straight shaft. What's special about
them, however, is that they're flavored, scented, and colored. For those
of you who want to use latex condoms but hate the taste, these just
might be your answer! They work particularly well for giving a blowjob
with a condom (as long as you've learned how to avoid being gagged by
the reservoir tip!). A very mild amount of the flavor also rubs off on
the parts it's been touching, so oral sex after the condom has been

Pleasure Plus Condoms
These latex condoms are designed with a "pouch" -- a looser area located
just below the head of the penis (be sure you put them on
right-side-up!). The shaft is a standard snug-all-around design. Our
testing couple agreed that the sliding action of the pouch (and possibly
the tiny inside ribs) helped add to his sensation, and this is a huge
improvement over the dulling nature of other condoms! Some people try
using larger size condoms to achieve similar friction, but run an
increased risk of having the condom slip off; these condoms avoid that
risk while restoring stimulation to the most sensitive area of the
penis. If you're looking for improved feeling while using a condom, give
the Pleasure Plus a try -- many men who thought they hated
condoms have been converted by these. And the 12-pack comes in a groovy
metal case. (Do be careful opening the metal case; it sometimes requires
quite a bit of prying to open it the first time and we don't want you

Purple Nitrile Gloves

. Nitrile is a synthetic alternative to latex, with

Lube Shooter, three pack
You guys have been asking about these things for years, but we could
never find one that wasn't filled with some random off-brand lube that
we would never carry. So we're pleased to finally carry a lube shooter
that is affordable and easy to fill with your own favorite lube! Our
Lube Shooter, three-pack contains three disposable
shooters, (and one reusable plunger and cap), which can be filled with
pretty much any lube that you have lying around. Remove the plunger,
pour in the lube, remove the cap on the other end and depress until a
little lube dribbles from the business end, making sure to force out all
the air. Once loaded, you can insert the Lube Shooter into
the orifice that needs lubing (about one inch in) and slowly depress the

Maximus Water-Based Gel Lube
From BodyWise, the makers of Liquid Silk. One of
the few complaints we get about Liquid Silk is that it is a
bit thin for anal sex and vaginal fisting. For fisting and anal play,
the thicker the lube, the better (well, motor oil is probably taking it
a bit far...). Maximus is the answer! It's much thicker than
Liquid Silk, with a somewhat gelatinous texture, and is

Crystal Bloops
This clear acrylic toy is designed for butt play (the manufacturer even
calls it the Crystal Anos), but it can be used equally well as a dildo.
Eight very subtly graduated bloops from 1" to 1-5/16" in diameter are

Blaze Glass Dildo
When we first saw the samples of this hand-made toy we knew we had to
carry it. It's the most beautiful, subtle glass art dildo we've seen.

Lightwave Glass Dildo
Okay, so the you've been looking through our glass dildos and find
yourself frustrated at every turn because we keep saying they're not
good for butt play, right? Well the Lightwave is the first
of our glass dildos that's okay for even those fairly new to butt play

In use, we found it to be tons of fun. It's long enough to
reach the prostate without any discomfort (either from the probe inside
or your arm as you position it), while still being easy to control. It
might take a bit of practice to hit the prostate on a regular basis, but
that's the absolute best kind of practice there is. You'll want to clean
the attachments after each use; fortunately, they detach from the handle
to make that easy. Just some anti-bacterial soap and washing with warm
water will do fine. A small brush (an old toothbrush) is also handy for
getting into the "cup" on the opposite side of the nubbed surface of the
attachment.
It's an expensive toy, no question, but we found it to be
great at what it does, and built like a rock. Get this, some Maximus,
and you're ready for hours of inner space exploration. (Vibrator unit

Note: For those of you who have asked, the
Ooh-la-la is similar, but not the same as the

Tristan 2 With Hollow Neck and Vibe
After the great success of the original Tristan butt-plug,
people begged Tristan Taormino for more, so she helped design a bigger,
longer, thicker plug and called it the Tristan 2. Then they
went a step further and made this variation with a hollowed out neck so
you can insert the (now included!) bullet-style vibrator in it. It's
still got the special base with convex curves at the sides for greater
comfort between the cheeks, but it's quite a bit larger all around. The
neck is approximately 1-5/8" wide and 1-3/4" long. The bulb at the top
is about 2-1/16" at the widest point and makes the total insertable
length about 3-1/2". This design is also available with a solid neck if
you don't care about having the vibrating option (see the Silicone
Butt-Plugs section for the Tristan 2 without the
hollow neck).
Our tester found that the vibrations, while they did travel the
length of the toy, were mostly focused at the anus and with a
Silver Bullet Vibrator were at a level that was mostly a
tease, at least for him. He also remarked that he liked the squishiness
of the neck of the toy when he used it without a vibe inserted into it,
so if you like a larger plug with a more flexible neck, this might work

Note: For most of these vibrators it's a good idea to put a bit of
lube onto the bullet before inserting it to make squeezing it out after
use easier. Also, the One-Touch Bullet is a tiny bit larger
than standard for the slot, so don't leave it in there between uses
because it could stretch out the hole making it loose for standard
bullets. And finally, the Hyper Bullet and the USB
Powered Multi-Mode Bullet Vibrator are a bit small for a tight
fit in this toy, especially if you put lube on them first; we recommend

Tail/Whip Plug
For ages and ages we've looked for a nice plug with a tail. Mostly
they've disappointed us because they were made of tacky materials or
because the plug wasn't designed well to stay in place. (The one
exception is our Horse Tail
Plug, which is beautiful and charming, but might not be just
the right size for some folks.) Well finally the makers of our Thin Rubber
Whip have designed a nice silicone plug with a rubber
