	The Kinky Girl's Guide to Dating Grey, Luna Greenery Press If you're new to the world of kinky dating and need a good starting place, look no further. The Kinky Girl's Guide to Dating is an easy-to-read introduction, full of anecdotes and written mainly in a conversational style that makes it fun to read. Full of good advice on how to find and more-or-less safely immerse yourself in your local BDSM scene, this book will help those interested in exploring their naughtier nature feel more secure while doing so. Be warned that more experienced players will find some of this information both too obvious and too scant; the author relies heavily on general references to her Resource section, and we wish she'd at least give some specific pointers in the body of the book itself. Still, the book is such an interesting and comforting read that newer players will probably devour it cover to cover, making it an excellent place to begin your research. 	Screw the Roses, Send Me the Thorns: The Romance and Sexual Sorcery of Sadomasochism Miller, Phillip and Molly Devon Mystic Rose This intro to SM book has a bit of just about everything. It's well written, though the fact that it is very much from and for the male-dominant/female-submissive viewpoint sorta got on this reviewer's nerves — but that perspective didn't get in the way of the sheer usefulness of this book. The authors display an entertaining sense of humor throughout (which is a major relief to those of us who've seen a few too many SM writers take themselves way too seriously!). They also show an astounding amount of grace in that, when they didn't have the knowledge to write sensibly or helpfully about something, they said so and left it alone. 	The Seductive Art of Japanese Bondage Midori (with photographer Craig Morey) This beautifully printed, well-illustrated coffee-table-size book (no, it's not as big as a coffee-table, you silly people) provides clear, thorough, step-by-step instructions on how to do Japanese rope bondage. (For those of you who aren't familiar with it, Japanese bondage is a centuries-old form of rope bondage, done with the goal of being both decorative and functional.) Written by sex educator Midori (a.k.a. FetishDiva Midori), The Seductive Art of Japanese Bondage introduces the reader to the history and general principles of the technique and gives thorough, step-by-step instructions on seven different basic forms/positions, accompanied by clear, detailed line drawings of each step in the process. Plus each position is illustrated with a full-color photo of the completed pose. Like Japanese rope bondage itself, the book is both lovely to look at and extremely functional. 	Shibari You Can Use: Japanese Rope Bondage and Erotic Macrame Harrington, Bridgett This rope-bondage book is chock-full of instructions for really cool ties, corsets, gauntlets, chest harnesses and even dildo harnesses (which can be made for any size body!) that you can make out of rope! Starting with the basics (the kinds of rope, how tight you should bind, how to care for your rope, etc.), each chapter takes you one step further in the world of Shibari (Japanese decorative rope bondage): One Column Ties, Two Column Ties, Chest Harnesses, Combinations, Rope Corsets and Crotch Ropes. Not as glossy as Bondage for Sex (this one is all black-and-white inside), this book focuses more on wearable bondage (harnesses, wrist bondage, etc.) than on using rope to tie a person down for sex, though there is some overlap between the two. 	Two Knotty Boys Showing You the Ropes Two Knotty Boys, Larry Utley Green Candy Press Not just another rope bondage how-to book, Two Knotty Boys Showing You the Ropes is possibly the easiest to understand of all the easy-to-understand rope bondage books that have come out recently. It breaks down the steps so fine that often you get to see both the step in action ("pull the end all the way over the top") and what it looks like once that step is done ("you have two ropes hanging down"), which is way useful when you're trying to figure out if you're doing it right. The photography is black-and-white, but very clear and, we'll say it again, easy to follow. The whole thing is arranged in self-explanatory sections: The Knots (from square knots to trinity Celtic knots), Basic Bondage (Cat's Paw for Ankles, Rope Shackle, etc.), Decorative Bondage (Rope Corset, Trinity Knot Bra, Tortoise Shell Bodysuit, and so on), Dominance Bondage (Wrist Tie-Back, Quick Bit Gag, etc.), and Sex Bondage (from Table Tie-Down to Rope Strap-On). 	Naughty Spanking Stories from A to Z (Volume 2) Bussel, Rachel Kramer (editor) Pretty Things Press The first book in this series was such a rousing success that when the second volume came out, we simply pounced upon it. If you enjoy spanking — giving them, receiving them, watching them, especially reading about them — then chances are you're gonna love this book. Twenty-six stories, plus four bonus stories, all centered around spanking. While every story in this anthology isn't exactly BDSM, it's hard to get around that aspect of a good, old-fashioned spanking without indugling in a little power play. We especially liked the retelling of the Nutcracker with the prince teaching (an eighteen year-old) Clara a thing or two about discipline, but the stories run the gamut from formal mistresses to BDSM clubs to happy couples wacking away at one another's posteriors. Safe Word continues the story of Carrie, former Berkeley lit. student turned sex-slave, after her sale at a fancy European slave auction. This book starts at the end of her year-long servitude and slave-training, with Carrie meeting up with her former master, Jonathan. The book goes back and forth, with Carrie and Jonathan swapping stories from their past year apart, and it gives a fascinating glimpse into their interpersonal dynamics and individual sexual experiences. That is, if you chose to read it straight-through, it does. Then you may very well have what we call a fetish. In Fetish Sex author Violet Blue delves into the world of, well, fetish sex, beginning with questions such as "How do I know if I have a fetish or just an interest in something?" and "Does your lover have a fetish?", moving into suggestions on how to talk about these fetishes with your lover and incorporating the fetish into actual sex play. The last two-thirds of the book talk about the details: from role-playing to fetish wear to lists of the actual fetishes themselves, these chapters are fascinating both in their usefulness (the role-play chapter has a quiz you can fill out so you can clearly define exactly what you're looking for in a scene) and variety. 	Bondage Bar If you like the idea of being spread-open, but typical bondage-bars seem a bit too hardcore, this Bondage Bar is a gentler version of the same thing. Covered in fabric, with a wide, stiff bar holding four velcro-fastening cuffs (two sets), this bar gives you options and isn't quite as scary-looking as its metal cousins (such as our Adjustable Spreader Bar). 	Door Jam Cuffs Useful little buggers. These are surprisingly sturdy over-the-door hangers for people! These strong fabric straps fit between your door and door jam, use some very quiet, but ingeniously effective, tubing to hold the door straps securely in place, and have attached cuffs. The cuffs are surprisingly sturdy and soft, with Velcro closures. Close the door, and voila! Instant people hangers! Our testers put short and tall people into these and neither could really get away (although it's tough to say just how hard they tried). Most doors are not strong enough to bear people's weight without warping or breaking, so be cautious which door you put them on if you intend to hang. 	Hogtie Cuffs Set This is a handy set for a variety of bondage games. The kit includes 4 cuffs made from soft, velvety black fabric and each has a ring and clip sewn on. They feature Velcro closures and are adjustable to a fairly wide range of sizes that should cover most wrists or ankles (they'll work from about 7" to about 12" in circumference). Then there's the handy little hogtie ring — a solid metal ring with four more rings attached to it. The 4 rings are attached with webbing that's riveted together, providing a sturdy, flat-lying connection while allowing the rings to slide around the main ring so you can get just the right location for your cuff connections. 	Rubber Cuffs Kit Whether you're looking for something vegan or you just like the cool look and feel of rubber against your skin, our Rubber Cuffs Kit is sure to tie you up properly. This set comes with two wrist cuffs, two ankle cuffs, two pairs of plastic clips connected with matching rubber and a simple cloth blindfold — bondage made easy! Made from durable PVC, these cuffs fit snugly against the skin and are extremely adjustable thanks to the plastic, tongue-less buckle — simply slide the end through the buckle and pull to tighten; thanks to the somewhat grippy nature of rubber, they stay pretty well once they're tightened down. 	Super Cuffs These sturdy neoprene cuffs are great for those of you who want non-leather gear but want something that's a bit more serious and strong than most fabric restraints. The thicker-than-usual neoprene cuffs are comfortable yet quite sturdy with wide Velcro closure straps reinforced with an additional Velcro strap that wraps back over the main Velcro closure, giving you an extra-firm connection. The secondary Velcro strap can be used to connect the cuffs to each other through the D-rings to create a very strong coupling. Or if you want to use the cuffs separately, you can use the welded D-rings to attach them to something else, like Tethers. 	Tethers These 48" adjustable black webbing straps, sold in pairs, have rings at each end and each ring holds a metal clip. Unfortunately, 48" isn't long enough to slip under a mattress larger than twin-size, but you could clip two together to slip under a larger mattress. Of course, you can use them looped through a bed frame or chair arms or clipped to whatever appropriate anchor points you might have available. Or you can use them to clip wrist cuffs directly to ankle cuffs. The possibilities are nearly endless! The straps adjust down to a minimum of 10-1/2" (including the clips). 	Double Bubble Chrome Butt-Plug This is not a beginner butt-toy. No, the Double Bubble Chrome Butt-Plug is one of the heaviest, most challenging pieces of sex-toy art that we've ever managed to sit down on, and we can't recommend it for anyone other than solid intermediate or advanced butt-play aficionados. Why is it so advanced? The first thing you'll notice is the weight of the thing — the Double Bubble Chrome Butt-Plug weighs in at 1.48lbs. If that doesn't sound heavy to you, try to imagine trying to keep something that heavy clenched inside your butt and you'll begin to get a sense of what we mean. That sort of weight is not only a (delightful, especially in BDSM scenes) challenge to keep in while standing, but provides extra stimulation when one is lying down simply by the pressure created by the heft of it. 	Lascivious Liaisons Digital Playground Lascivious Liaisons is a classy, glossy film featuring beautiful women in stunning lingerie, slow-motion effects and some soft-focus camera work, no vocal track, and a classical-sounding score, all hallmarks of a "couples" movie.
