The Big Book of Breasts
Hanson, Dian (editor)
Taschen
Big almost doesn't begin to describe this hefty tome that's
chock full of big, beautiful boobies. Arranged by decade, this book
contains nude pictures of women with large natural breasts (it is not
coincidence that the three decades covered are the 1950's, 1960's and
the 1970's, after which most big breasts in nude pictures are
artificially created). Because of the time period, you're going to see
women with more natural bodies (read: you can't see their rib cages!
some even have pubic hair!), and come into contact with hair styles that
your mother wore (though some are "so out they're in again"). There are
little features on certain famous strippers and burlesque dancers, which
make for some fascinating reading, but for the most part you've just got
pictures of breasts. Hubba hubba! 12" x 12". (2006, 396 pp.)

Bubble Bath Girls
Einhorn, Andrew
Goliath
What's hotter than a naked woman in a bathtub? A naked woman in a
bathtub with bubbles! Photographer Andrew Einhorn (of Naked Happy
Girls fame) once again persuades dozens of hot young women off
street, out of their clothes and in front of his camera. This time he
adds the delightful theme of bubble baths, and the suds are the perfect
complement to nubile skin, perky breasts, firm bodies, dangerous curves
and plump buttocks. The personality of each girl really comes through,
thanks in part to the props they either brought with them (the tiara,
the iguana) or were given to play with (the fruit, the bubble bath, the
roses). A delightful romp, full of sexy, bubbly clean fun. 7-3/4" x
5-3/4". (2005, 367 pp.)

Burlesque and the Art of the Teese; Fetish and the Art of the Teese
Von Teese, Dita
Harper Collins
If devastatingly beautiful brunettes with ivory skin and ruby red lips
are your thing, look no further. The Queen of the New Burlesque herself,
Dita Von Teese, has put together a delectable new book, a dos a dos
featuring the two sides of her glittering personality: the burlesque
dancer opens the front of the book, but flip it over and open the other
cover for Dita as fetish performer extraordinaire. With hundreds of
exquisite photographs of the lovely Dita in her myriad costumes and
personas, this book is a femme's dream, a collection of corsets, frilly
underthings, stiletto heels, fishnets, fancy hats, cuban heeled
stockings (always with garters!), petticoats, rhinestones, lace,
feathers, satin pointe shoes, marabou tutus, bejeweled pasties, teeny
panties, ruffles, bikinis, velvet, leather, gloves... you get the idea.
Dita herself is the picture of glamour, whether she's vamping it up a la
Bettie Page with a riding crop or doing a strip tease in a giant martini
glass (complete with an olive sponge). We could gaze at her beauty all
day long. And, if you can ever tear your eyes off the pretty pretty
pictures, you can read up on Dita's versions of the history of both
Burlesque and Fetish. A very lovely book, a pleasure for the eyes, much
like Dita herself. Recommended for fans of all things glamorous. (2006,

Divas of San Francisco: Portraits of Transsexual Women
Steinberg, David
Red Alder Books
We love David Steinberg's photography here at Blowfish, so when we
discovered that he had a new collection out, we had to pounce on it.
Divas of San Francisco: Portraits of Transsexual Women is
the culmination of a five year project documenting the beautiful women
who frequent San Francisco's famous Divas Nightclub. Every type of woman
is represented here: various body types, ethnicities and ages grace the
pages. Taken with Steinberg's keen eye, the women in these images,
though all dolled up, are not of your stereotypical "drag queen"; from
candids to posed shots, Steinberg captures something of the personality
of each woman through the intensity of their gaze. Allowing a glimpse
into a world that few of us know much about, he helps demystify
transsexual culture and presents these women as the normal, everyday
people that they are. (2007, 64 pp.)

Layley
Donegan, John and Layley
Goliath Books
Ah, Layley. If you've ever wanted to watch a model slowly become more
and more comfortable with her sexuality as she poses nude in front of
her photographer, this is the book for you. Definitely read
Layley's (the model) and John Donegan's (the photographer) introductions
to get a feel for their relationship and how the collaborative process
worked for them in creating this book. From her lithe, flawless body to
the expression in her eyes, Layley carries off a kind of effortless
erotic charge that really comes through in her pictures. This is the
first book by Goliath (the publisher) to feature only one girl, and we
think she really pulls it off nicely. Or maybe this reviewer just has a
thing for hot blondes. Either way, it's a fascinating look at one
woman's discovery of her own sexuality and power that never gets skeezy
or too lewd. Very nicely done! 5-3/4" x 7-3/4". (2005, 159 pp.)

Le Banquet
Berquet, Gilles
Twisted, brilliant, shameless, visionary — can you tell that we love
this guy? A serious pervert and an Artist with a capital A, Gilles
Berquet combines technical excellence with a passionate and kinky erotic
imagination, creating images that are as elegant as they are filthy. And
his models are beautiful, expressive, and nasty, nasty, nasty!
Yet more proof (as if it were needed) that explicit smut and high art
can be one and the same. If you're curious about Berquet's work,
Le Banquet is an excellent and affordable look at his
transcendently deviant sexual
vision.
This book measures approximately 6-3/4" x 9". (2000, 94 pp.)

Legs
Naz, Dave
Goliath
Photographer Dave Naz has a clean, straightforward style which is
refreshingly honest for the erotic picture business. Legs
features full-color photographs of lovely women, with an emphasis on
their legs. Many are wearing stockings, pantyhose or tights, a few are
fully dressed, some are nude and a smattering focus on the feet (there
are several images in here that would make a foot-fetishist drool). Nina
Hartley notes in her introduction of this book that these aren't
pictures of disembodied legs — these photos feature the entire woman,
and usually some of her setting as well, bringing the viewer into the
scene. Like Panties (also by Naz), there's a very natural
feel to these photographs. A definite must for any leg-man's (or
woman's!)
bookshelf!
This book measures approximately 8-7/8" x 10-1/4". (160
pp.)

Looker
Kern, Richard
Richard Kern does it again, presenting naughty glimpses of
breathtakingly lovely and natural young women, this time from a voyeur's
perspective. While all the models in this work are of legal age and
under contract, the feel of these pictures is pure voyeurism: the women
are caught gardening in their underwear, wandering around the house
topless, flashing a bit of pantied crotch in the office or on the tennis
court, making out with their girlfriends in the woods while hunting... The
photography is truly brilliant; you really feel as if you've happened
upon one happy accidental flashing after another, and the whole book
feels deliciously innocent and undeniably titillating. Recommended!

Naked Ambition: An R-Rated Look at an X-Rated Industry
Grecco, Michael
Rock Out Books
If you've ever wanted to know more about the sex industry — especially
about the stars, the directors, the folks who make their living there —
you can't miss Naked Ambition: An R-Rated Look at an X-Rated
Industry. Photojournalist Michael Grecco set up a booth at the
2006 and 2007 AVN awards and shot — and interviewed— many of the most
important, unique and fascinating people in the porn industry. Following
the format of a full-page, full-color picture (or two), most are
accompanied by a paragraph detailing the significant history of the
individual in question (sometimes with fun quotes or body measurements
or what they did before porn, etc). From Jenna Jameson to Joanna Angel,
from Larry Flynt to Seymour Butts, from Ron Jeremy to Buck Angel, it's
an engrossing look at what it means to be in the industry. The
photographs appear very natural and realistic (you can see wrinkles and
pores sometimes), though Grecco does thank his retoucher in the
acknowledgements. Remarkably frank, this book makes the sex industry
into what it really is — simply a way of life, not some scandalous,
snickering secret to be ashamed of. We had a hard time putting this one
down, and, considering the size of this gorgeous coffee-table book,
that's saying something! 14" tall by 10" wide. Full color. (2007, 224

Naked Happy Girls
Einhorn, Andrew
Goliath
Be sure to read the introduction to this fabulously fun book of nude
photos. Seems photographer Andrew Einhorn found his models by walking
down the streets of New York City and asking perfect strangers if they'd
be willing to let him photograph them naked; obviously, Einhorn has
talents beyond his considerable photography skills. The result is rompy,
fun, fresh and sexy without a hint of sleeze. There are short
introductions to each model, followed by several shots of her (usually
in her own apartment, sometimes with her pets). You get a real sense of
the bright and varied personalities that went together to make this
incredible little book.

Natural Beauties
Stobblehouse, Eolake

Lithe young women, frolicking nude in nature — what's not to like? Each
of these Natural Beauties has several pages of photographs,
and we're told her name, who photographed her, and where she's from
(mostly northern and eastern Europe). These are simple nudes, unadorned
save for their own beauty and the great outdoors that surrounds them,
and their youth and apparent innocence create one compelling picture
after another. Whether rolling in the hay, playing in the water or
skipping over sand dunes, these young women are simply erotic and
naturally beautiful. (2004, 368 pp.)

Very urban, scruffy-stylish erotic photos (color and B&W) ranging from
basic nudes to bondage photos. It has strong overtones of depravity,
without being explicitly perverse (well, not very explicitly perverse,
anyway). Includes a whole series of shots of gyrls with guns — boy, did
that make this reviewer

Pervy Girls
Kessler, Christine
If your tastes run a little towards the kinky lingerie side, have we got
a sweet little picture book for you! While there are a few pictures of
girls wearing satin and lace in Pervy Girls, they're more
likely to be clad in heavily-boned corsetry rather than delicate little
wisps of lingerie. But most of the lingerie in this pretty, full-color
picture book runs towards the latex, rubber and leather side of things
(with a good dollop of fishnets and hosiery and stilletos thrown in for
good measure). The girls themselves are seriously hot stuff, both pretty
enough and hardcore enough to carry off the underbust latex bras and
thigh-high pvc stockings they're modeling. Ideal eye candy for the
highly fashionable pervert in your life (or in your mirror). 5-3/4" x
7-3/4" (2006, 112 pp)

Pornscapes
Radisic, Pierre
Goliath
Pornscapes features sets of six photographs, arranged in
such a way as to complement one another, continue an image or a theme,
or simply extend the natural world into the realm of the surreal. For
example: a breast and nipple in one frame become the eye of the profile
in the next. A penis seems to extend outward from a woman's mouth, the
head pointing down in the next frame. A thigh extends upwards out of the
frame and into the next, becoming the bottom of a torso getting fucked
up the ass. The spaces between the photographs don't detract from the
optical illusions going on here, though we will note that not everything
is so neatly lined up: sometimes photos are simply arranged by theme
(assholes, and things that look like assholes) and not every photo is
erotic (though most are). Be warned that not only are golden showers
depicted in this book, but sex with what probably is menstrual blood
graces a few pages (it's not entirely easy to tell since the entire book
is black-and-white). Overall, a fascinating glimpse into one couple's
experimentation with photography during sex. (2006, 128 pp.)

Stacked Decks: The Art and History of Erotic Playing Cards
Rotenberg Collection
Quirk Books
Spotlighting coquettish art nudes featured on erotic playing cards, Mark
Lee Rotenberg's Stacked Decks stimulates both your nethers
and the naughtier side of your intellect. Gaggles of babes from around
the world, dating from circa 1835 to the mid 1970s, traipse through this
diverse gathering from Rotenberg's personal collection. Pin-ups, of
course, predominate: Bettie Page-esque mini-cover models promise light
bondage, sapphic satisfaction, perky pasties, naturally buxom beauty,
and come-hither glances. The atmospheres depicted on these cards range
from raw photography (a predecessor to today's indy aesthetic, perhaps)
to exceedingly elaborate artwork. A pleasant, albeit brief, cherry on
top: Rotenberg cohesively details the history of art nude through the
medium of card decks. This reviewer's favorites include: a suggestive
and somewhat endearing Strip Tease deck, black-and-white
cat-fight/power-play photos, and the lush, smolderingly
Renaissance-esque beauty of the Le Florentin deck. Of notable
significance, too, are naughty comics (Archie gone
vaudevillian), classic French nudes, Esquire Magazine decks,
East African and Asian fetish samplings and the obligatory guns, guns,
guns. Did we mention the wolf-masks and stuffed koalas? Overall, a great
deal of naughty fun is to be had in these Stacked Decks.

Stare: Photographs
Ridgers, Derek
Goliath Books
Photographer Derek Ridgers hangs out in stylish nightclubs, waiting for
suitable subjects to flaunt themselves in front of his camera. According
to the introduction, he does not direct but allows these sexy,
fashionable women to express themselves as they see fit; this makes the
range and depth of sexy on these pages even more astonishing. From
schoolgirl outfits to out-and-out fetish gear, the getups these foxy
women are wearing make it clear that we haven't been going to the right
nightclubs. All black-and-white photography. (2006, 160 pp.)

The Valley
Sultan, Larry
Scalo
Photographer Larry Sultan seems to have a knack for not only capturing
the feel of a particular time and place but also including the viewer as
part of the scene. The Valley takes us to a porn shoot in
the San Fernando Valley, yet the tone of these photographs is anything
but salacious. Action scenes are shot not from the movie camera's point
of view, but from off-stage, to the side, through sliding glass doors or
with the director in the shot, giving you the sense of being on the set
itself, watching how the scenes are considered, changed, created. Better
still are the "resting" shots, the porn stars in curlers on their cell
phones, taking a food break, or all done up in leather, waiting for the
next scene to begin. The entire book is intensely real and feels
incredibly honest even as it pulls back the curtain and reveals the
artificial scrim backgrounds and shelf of dolls above the bed, just out
of the final shot.
Recommended.
This book measures approximately 13-1/2" x 11-3/4".
